Geelong history

Trawling round the internet, as you do, I came across  the Bellarine Peninsula and Geelong and District History website. It contains a wealth of information, including indexes to midwives, Hackney drivers, and photographers.

I immediately dug out my album of old photographs from the Geelong area to see if the information about the photographers would tell me more about my people.

There is also a very useful search engine covering all the databases available on this site, which includes indexes to  books, directories, church records etc.
Another regional Victorian site worth a look is the Ballarat & District Genealogical Society I find the website very busy, but it is worth persevering because there are some real gem within. Using the website search engine is an effective way forward.
